A Guide to Pontevedra

Situated on the border between the two Iberian countries of Spain and Portugal, Pontevedra is a small town with lovely beaches, a fishing community and has sheltered harbours. It is not the most exciting place but is perfect if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and relaxing in peace and quiet by the beach. The town itself is a quaint Spanish town with beautiful fountains, narrow streets and cosy squares.

The main site in the city is the 16th Century Church of Santa Maria. There is also the provincial museum which has exhibits charting the rise of the town and the history of the area. It also has numerous collections of different pieces throughout history. The town is quiet and not for those who want thrills and excitement but perfect for experiencing the quiet Spanish countryside and forget about you worries.
