A Guide to Valladolid

The capital of Castilla-Leon, the largest region in the country the city of Valladolid was once a possible candidate to become the capital of the country. The city is steeped in history and is contains stunning architecture and all kinds of other treasure. One of the aspects of the city which is particularly famous is its beautiful gardens.

The beautiful gardens provide a fantastic contrast and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city centre and are particularly beautiful in the summer when the gardens are in full bloom. The city is in the area which was home to famous historical characters such as Christopher Columbus and Cervantes. There are many museums in the area such as the Museo Nacional de Escultura which has a fantastic exhibit of 16th and 17th century Spanish sculptures. There are also some fantastic churches in the city which are well worth a visit including the beautiful Cathedral Metropolitana which is a modern cathedral built in the Gothic style over the remains of the Santa Maria la Mayor.

The nightlife in the area is second to none in the region and there are fantastic restaurants serving delicious regional cuisine and ready to cater for your every need and the bars and clubs go on late into the night challenging even the most ardent partygoer. The city of Valladolid is a must visit city for all trips to the area.
