A Guide to Soria
Soria is the capital of the region of Soria and situated on the banks of the river Duero. Bordered by many other principalities it is one of the smallest in the country, though bizarrely has one of the largest collections of Medieval European castles in Europe. One of the main sites to visit is the beautiful Romanesque Cathedral and many other churches within the region which are fantastic examples of Romanesque architecture.
The city’s origins are of a mixed Celtic and Iberian influences and this can be readily seen in the ruins of Numantia, which was integral in the defence of the city against the invading forces of the romans and is a fantastic place to visit and experience the history of the surroundings. The city of Soria is the perfect place to come fro lunch and an afternoon’s exploration.
