A Guide to Salamanca

The city of Salamanca is steeped in history and has roots founded in Greek and Celtic heritage. It has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO and has many wonderful sites to be seen. The Cathedral of Salamanca is a fantastic example of the unique architecture that Salamanca produces. The Cathedral is a combination of two temples joined together with the Old and New Cathedrals.

As well as the Cathedral there are many other churches in the city which date back many hundreds of years including the chapel of Santa Barbara. There are also many museums in the city which chart the rise of the city and the history of the region. There are many exhibitions of fantastic art work from the 19th and 20th centuries.

The scenery surrounding the city is absolutely spectacular with beautiful woods and trees which is perfect for those who enjoy taking long walks. Salamanca is a perfect example of a beautiful Spanish city and is a perfect addition to any trip to the country.
