A Guide to Guadalajara

Guadalajara is the second largest city in the country and is the capital of the Jalisco. The first thing you see when coming into the city is the beautiful remains of the city walls and the one lasting defence tower. One of the main sites to see in the city is the beautiful Cathedral around which four plazas have been built in the shape of the Christian cross.

When entering the cathedral you should head towards the sacristy to see the wonderful painting by Bartolome Estaban Murillo. The majority of Guadalajara has been influenced by both Christian and Moorish influences and has many sites and attractions steeped in history which must be seen including the Palacio del Gobierno, a two storey palace built at the end of the 18th Century and many stunning plaza throughout the city.

The nightlife in the city is amongst the best in the country with fantastic restaurants and bars serving delicious regional cuisine and are ready to serve your every need. The bars and clubs go on late into the night challenging even the most ardent partier. The city of Guadalajara is one of the cities that just cannot be excluded from any trip to the country and rivals even the great cities of Madrid and Barcelona.
