A Guide to Ciudad Real
Located in the region of Castilla La Mancha the city of Ciudad Real is situated amongst stunning scenery of rolling hills and green pastures. The city once had a fantastic defensive structure with a 3 mile wall surrounding the city with over 100 turrets protecting a community of Christians, Jews and Moors.
The town is heavily influenced by Gothic style and this is evident in the church of Santiago though the church does have influences from other sources as seen with its Mudejar roof. One of the main sites in the city is the Cathedral, which dates from between the 13th Century and the 19th Century and so the structure contains elements of just about every style. Ciudad Real is a wonderful to come and visit and is always welcoming to all visitors.
It is an easy stop off point due to the fact that the Madrid-Seville train service passes through the city.
