A Guide to Albacete

The city of Albacete is the capital region of Albacete and is famous throughout the country for its hunting and fishing which brings in Spaniards and foreigners alike. There are beautiful hills and flowing rivers which are perfect for those who enjoy taking long walks and hiking. One of the most beautiful places to go in the city is the stunning Cathedral of San Juan Bautista.

It took over 400 years for the Cathedral to be built and was only completed in the 20th Century and so is full of historical artefacts from the region. There is also the archaeological museum in the city, which is full of wonderful paintings by Spanish artists including a large portion on works by Benjamin Palencia.

The city is also famous for its trade in cutlery and has been very productive in the exporting of cutlery as well as Saffron. The city of Albacete is not a huge town but is definitely worth a visit while you are in the area and its nightlife is unrivalled in the area.
