A Guide to Xcaret
Xcaret has a blend of leisure and education. The resort is based in the Yucatan Peninsula and tries to combine the learning about Mayan traditions and history with the multitude of activities on offer around the park. For those who enjoy water sports this has fantastic facilities for just about any type of water sport.
Whether it is scuba diving, inlet swimming, or swimming with dolphins it has lots to do. There is also a zoo, a church, an aquarium and a butterfly sanctuary to try and cater for everyone’s needs. One of the unique aspects of the resort is the five wading pools, which are filled by the oncoming waters of the Caribbean making them natural Jacuzzis for you to enjoy.
The resort tries to teach environmental awareness and attempts to teach visitors about the history of the area and its traditions. The evening show is stunning and is not to be missed, and is a re-enactment of he festivals and mysticism that surrounded the Mayan kings with regional music and dancing as well as a pre Spanish ball game known as the ball of fire.
The resort is open between 8:30am and 10:00pm and is a fun filled day out for the whole family.
