A Guide to Playa Del Carmen

Playa del Carmen is 42 miles south of Cancun and has an average temperature of approximately 25°C though can rise up to 35°C in the summer. It shares the the second largest coral reef the worls which extends all the way to Cozumel, the beaches around the resort are perfect for all kinds of water sports such as swimming, surfing, scuba diving and snorkelling along the reef.

There are boats which take divers out to the reefs where they should be able to see many different types of fish. Again like Merida there are sinkholes which are perfect for cave diving. There are also some lovely natural parks in the area which are perfect for eco tourism and hiking.

The most active area of the city is the Quinta Avienda which has a whole host of shops in a modern shopping mall for a relaxing day away from the beach. There are also many restaurants and bars as well as clubs which party on long into the early hours of the day.
