Madrid: A fast bus runs from the airport into Plaza Colon every 15 minutes (about 15-20 minutes) where taxis wait. There’s also a Metro service, and taxis, between the airport and central Madrid.
Barcelona: Trains run every 30 minutes from the airport to Sants and Placa de Catalunya Stations.
An Aerobus leaves every 15–30 minutes between the airport and Placa de Catalunya. And of course there is a taxi service from the airport.
