What a civilized custom is the siesta!

All hot countries should adopt it. It is the two blissful hours between 2:00–4:00 p.m. when life is put on hold as the Spaniards eat lunch and have an energy-restoring nap – more than 40 winks. Shops close during these hours and then stay open late into the evening, which means they eat dinner later – usually between 9:00–11.00 p.m. Traditionally the siesta was for farmers to allow themselves to digest their lunch and avoid the heat of the day before going back to the fields.
