A Guide to Cascia

Cascia is located in the east of Umbria, 18km south of Norcia. It is famous as a pilgrimage site for Saint Rita and there is a large cult within Italy that are followers of the saint. There are several buildings that hold memories and sacred furnishings connected to the Saint. The Basilica and Monastery of St. Rita being amongst them with their important collection of frescoes. The traditional celebrations for St. Rita are held on the 21st and 22nd of May.

However apart from the towns great religious importance it is composed of delightful medieval buildings and churches which include the gothic Church of St Francis, the church of St Antonio Abate, the collegiate of St Maria, the church of St Agostino and Palazzo Carli.
