A Guide to Giardini Naxos

Giardini Naxos is located south of Taormina and is the site of the first Greek landing in Sicily. There is thought to have been a settlement here since 734 B.C. The important Archeological Museum of Giardini Naxos houses a grand collection of the town’s archeological finds which describe the town’s history.

Giardini Naxos occupies a panoramic bay with the most popular beach in the whole of Sicily with its captivating beauty and wide range of water sports on offer. During the winter the town’s attractiveness is enhanced by the snowy Mount Etna in the background.

The town has a strong sense of tradition about it with thriving craft industries that include the production of ceramics and terracotta, carpets and ironmongery. The famous Sicilian puppet shows held here are not to be missed.
