A Guide to Turin
Turin is an Italian city of dual importance. From a cultural point of view it has been the capital of the Sabaudo state and has a well preserved Baroque style historic centre. It also has a very important economic status as it has become Italy's second most important industrial city with the home of FIAT at Lingotto.
Sights to see are the Mole Antonelliana, known as the symbol of Turin; followed by Palazzo Madama, Palazzo Reale, the Colonnata Bell Tower, the Church of St Domenico and the Church of St Maria del Monte dei Cappuccini. There are many other attractions to see in the city including the Church of the Trinity, Turin Cathedral, Palazzo Valentino and Parco Valentino, Palazzo Carignano, the Sanctuary of the Consolata, Villa Reale, the Basilica di Superga, Palazzo del Lavoro.
Turin has an important Polytechnic and famous Musical Academy, the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory. Other cultural institutions include the Library of the Albertina Academy and the National Library.Other sights not to be missed are the Sabauda Gallery and the Egyptian Museum.
