A Guide to Stresa
Stresa is a tourist destination of international fame; it is located in the heart of Lake Maggiore at the foot of Mount Mottarone, opposite the Borromee Islands. For more than a century Stresa has been a holiday resort and has an impressive number of Liberty style hotels.
Stresa also hosts a wide variety of cultural events and international congresses. Sights to see are the lakeside beach, Piazza Marconi, the Parish Church of St Ambrogio, Villa Ducale where Antonio Rosmini died, and the adjacent International Centre of Rosminiani studies.
From Stresa one has a panoramic view over Lake Maggiore which stretches from the Lombard bank to Rocca di Caldè.Another truly enchanting destination not to be missed is the archipelago of the Borromee Islands.
In the immediate surroundings of Stresa one can visit Villa Pallavicino, which is situated in parklands of both Italian and English Gardens. There is also a Zoological Garden to explore which is the home of numerous species of animals.
