A Guide to Alba
Alba is seen as the "Capital of the Langhe". The city of Alba has impressively retained blocks of buildings and towers from the medieval era. Alba is a very important grape growing and agricultural centre.The magnificent Sala Resistenza and Sala del Consiglio can be found in the Palazzo Comunale in Piazza Risorgimento which is situated in the centre of the old town.
Sights to see are the Cathedral of St Lorenzo and the Church of St Domencio.
Another sight not to be missed is the attractive display of terracotta houses with 15th century windows off the main street Via Emanuelle II which is also known as 'Via Maestra, only a short walk from Piazza Risorgimento.
Here one can also appreciate the urn of Beata Margherita di Savoia and the Church of St Maria Maddalena. Next to the Church of St Maria Maddalena one can also find Via Paruzza and the Federico Eusebio Archeological and Natural Science Museum.
