A Guide to Rapallo
Rapallo is located on the coast between Genova and La Spezia in the Gulf of Tigullio. It is a port which makes it a popular attraction for private boast. Several illustrious names were born here such as Giovanni da Vico, Fortunio Licato and Nocolò Barbagelata and Friedrich Nietzche’s visit to Rapallo is said to have inspired him for his writing of ‘Zarathustra’.
The has a range of traditions that are still in practice today such as the production of lace and the Festival of the Patron Saint Nostra Signora di Montallegro and the Fair of St Sebastiano. The local dishes are particularly delightful and include Lasagna al Pesto, Foccaccia al’Olio and Frittelle Ripiene.
Sites of interest include the Oratory of S.S Trinità seat of the Confraternity of the Bianchi, the Tower of the Rapallo Community, the Monastery of Valle Christi, the Porta delle Saline, the Lace Museum and the Sanctuary of the Madonna of Montallegro
