A Guide to Liguria
Liguria covers the coastal strip of land joining France to Tuscany, along the west coast. The area's renowned beauty is a result of the stunning coast with the mountains as a backdrop. Illustrious figures such as Christopher Columbus, Mazzini, and Montale were born here. Liguria is often referred to as the ‘Italian Riviera’ and like the French Riviera it is famous for its mild climate, turquoise seas, enchanting bays, fishing villages, glamorous casino resorts and traditional inland villages. Some of the towns in Liguria have been holiday destinations and places of inspiration for decades. San Remo, Portofino, the Cinque Terre, Spezia and of course the dynamic city of Genoa are all among the highlights of Liguria.
