Cesenatico is an ancient fishing village, it owes its prosperity to Porto Leonardesco, a small harbour which Leonardo da Vinci was commissioned to improve. At the heart of Cesantico one finds the Porto canal, which plays host to a monument in honour of Giuseppe Garibaldi, the Pretoria tower, Piazze delle Conserve with its ancient ice works, and the Fishing Museum.
Other sights to see include the Church of St Nicola, the Church of St Giacomo, the Antiquarium, Casa Moretti, the Town Theatre. There are a variety of events held in Cesenatico including gastronomic fairs, the Agricultural producers Market, the Flee market, the Cuccagna del Adriatico and the Fishermans Nativity Scene. Gastronomes will feast on Cesenatico maritime cuisine especially superb fish dishes.
