A Guide to Apulia/Puglia

Apulia is a tranquil, serene region of Italy far away from tourism. It is an incredibly interesting, diverse region, ranging from rocky Gargano, fertile forest, the unique Tremiti islands, underwater caves, Gallipoli and Santa Maria di Leuca. The Apulian coastline is one long stunning sandy beach along the Adriatic.

When travelling inland one finds vineyards, olive groves and small and large towns of cultural and historic interest. Folklore is also popular within the region. The population of Apulia is very welcoming and known for a good sense of humour. Local traditions are kept alive through the Putignano carnival. Alberobello has a wealth of historic architecture with its Trulli houses; it is also a gastronome’s delight. Apulia is a traditional region with evidence of strong links to Greece in history.
