Italy Amalfi Coast

A Guide to Cetara

Cetara is found in a valley of green citrus orchards which extend to the coast, located between Vietri and Punta di Fuenti. The valley is shadowed by Monte Falerzio which contrasts to the dry valley with its abundance of woodlands and vineyards.

Cetara is an irresistible town in which you can escape the modern world and enjoy the traditional, thriving fishing industry along the small bay. Sites to see within the town include the Baroque Church of St Pietro, the Church of St Francesco, the Convent of St Francesco, and the Church of St Maria del Popolo as well as the Vicereale Tower which once had strategic importance.

The town still celebrates many traditional festivals including the Nocturnal Celebrations in honor of the Immaculate Conception, the Tuna and Anchovy Fair, the Festival of St Pietro and St Paolo and the Naval Procession with Firework display for the Celebrations of the Patron Saint, St Pietro’s day.
