A Guide to Valence
When you arrive in Valence you know you are coming to the out of the region of the Rhone Alps. Unlike Lyon and the cities in the north of the region Valence is warmer and brighter colours strike you immediately as the change of scenery sets in. The town itself is a quaint southern French town, which is a perfect stop off point on your way through the area.
The main attraction of the town is the beautiful Cathedrale St-Apolinaire, which dates back to the 11th Century when Pope Urban II consecrated the building in 1095. There are other churches in the area such as the Eglise de St Jean and also the Maison des Tetes is definitely worth a visit. There is also the Parc Jouvet, which is a perfect place to come in the town and overlooks the river and the vineyards of the area and is fantastic for taking strolls amid a lovely backdrop.
