A Guide to St Etienne Du Rouvray

St Etienne was a predominantly armament manufacturing town with many mines warehouses. It is not the prettiest of towns but does have the brilliant Musee d’Art Moderne that is perfect for all fans of 20th Century art and well worth a detour to have a look, with artists such as Matisse, Leger, Rodin and more recent figures such as Andy Warhol and Frank Stella.

There is also the Musee D’Art et d’Industrie which charts the development of industry in the town and an exhibition of arms and armour throughout time. The scenery around the town is worth a stroll the only problem are the factory towers on the skyline disturbing what could be a lovely place to take an enjoyable walk.
