France Loire Valley

A Guide to Tours

Tours is situated only an hours TGV ride from Paris and has been given a bad reputation in the past though it is not totally deserved. It is the chief town in the region. There are some fantastic bars, restaurants and cafes in the city ready to serve and giving the city a vibrant and colourful nightlife.

Like many towns in the country there is a magnificent cathedral within its walls designed in a very flamboyant Gothic style. There are also some interesting and unique museums in the city with exhibitions of wine, crafts, and stained glass and there is also the Musee des Beaux Arts with many exhibitions of French domestic art.

Tours is a lively town, which is perfect to visit for a couple of days not only to see the sites but also to experience the town’s nightlife and its general ambience. Though Tours has had a bad reputation in the past it is a town, which has to be experienced if you are in the area.
