A Guide to Chaumont
Chaumont is found between the two valleys of Marne and Suize and one of the town’s main features is its beautiful 19th Century viaduct. The main attraction of the town is the Basilique St-Jean-Baptiste, which though has similarities with many other churches in the region though this is a fantastic renaissance church built in the Gothic style such and has many 15th and 16th Century decorations and is a must see attraction if you are in the area.
The rest of the town may not have as much as some of the others nearby though the houses themselves are fairly unique with towers coming out of many of the houses in the town. The town also holds an art exhibition in old agricultural co-operative and its main attraction is the International Poster Festival. There are also many lovely restaurants in the area, which are perfect for sampling the delicious regional cuisine of the area.
