In the centre of Stresa, the modern Hotel La Palma is set in flower filled gardens on the shore of Lake Maggiore, enjoying views of the Borromean islands. Stresa is about 50 kilometres from central Milan and direct trains run to the city from the town's station, which is just 300 metres from the hotel. Boats run to the lovely Borromean islands, approximately three kilometres away and the house, zoo and impressive botanical gardens at Villa Pallavicino are just one kilometre from the hotel. The nearest airport is Milan Malpensa, which is 45 kilometres and about a 45-minute journey from Stresa. A shuttle bus service runs between the airport and Stresa.
