The opulent Cavaliere Palace Hotel is a patrician mansion built in 1600 and adorned with splendid frescoes some dating back to the 17th century. The hotel is set in beautiful gardens in the historical centre of Spoleto, just 500 metres from the Basilica. The 31 guestrooms are grandly decorated in rich fabrics of gold and red with refined furnishings, some have frescoes. There is an express train service every 30 minutes to Rome's Termini train station (journey time 30 minutes). A single ticket costs around 10 euros. Taxis are readily available at the airport, but take a licensed metered taxi only. An airport surcharge is payable. From the airport, follow the highway A1 northbound towards Firenze Milano. Take the A1/SS204, then turn right into SS204 and follow directions for Terni Narni Spoleto L'Aquila. Follow the SS204, then the E45. At Terni take the SS3 for 26 kilometres until Spoleto. Take the second entrance to Spoleto towards Spoleto Nord.
