The Grand Hotel San Marco is a modern property with landscaped grounds, in the spa resort of Casciana Terme, 23 kilometres from Volterra's historic cathedral. Transfers can be booked in advance by the hotel and cost 30 EUR each way. The airport has its own train station with direct trains to Pisa central station. From there trains are available to Pontadera Station, 16 kilometres from the hotel; the last leg of the journey can be made by taxi. The best way to see the surrounding countryside is to hire a car.
